A Dog's Life

You ever think about the life of a dog?  A lot of people own them, and a lot of people saw the movie Marley.  As I am truly exhausted and wonder just how I will get through splicing together my niece's prom dress, I wonder about the thoughts of my dog - COCO.

A week ago or so - perhaps two now she did act a bit peculiar for a few days leading up to the earthquake here.  Can animals predict these things because their senses are more sensitive?  Coco always looks like she has a smile on her face, accept when I am down - she's right beside me with sad eyes.  Do they really know how you feel and empathize with you?  But of course the best thing about my dog - and I think most dogs - when I come home even after being out for 5 minutes or less, she greats me like she's been missing me for a month of Sundays.  Do they really miss you like that or do they simply have no concept of time?

Whatever it is about dogs -- and I still won't let my guard down out on that census bureau route, those dogs were no Cocos -- I think we can take a lesson in love, loyalty, compassion, and real friendship from them.

Let me know your dog stories.

Ciao Y'all
